THE CLASSROOM LAYOUT
Maria Montessori taught us that children learn by doing and by experimentation.
So we’ve made a classroom that introduces the world, through a child’s eyes.
Everything is child-sized and safe for children to touch and use.
Everything is within reach, favouring exploration and self-teaching.
There is no restriction to movement in this classroom.
There is simply guidance and the joy of independent discovery.
THE LEARNING MATERIALS
Children learn in their own way, at their own pace, driven by enthusiasm and curiosity.
Maria Montessori understood the human tendencies for exploration, order, repetition, manipulation, exactness and orientation. The materials in our classroom are specifically designed and laid out for these tendencies.
The materials spark the imagination and enable the children to understand their errors and successes, through their own exploration.
There is no adult interference, only supportive guidance.
Languages, mathematics, motor skills, a sense of order and life in a community: every area of learning is covered, and discovered by the children, happily and skilfully, at their own pace.
