Our classroom
Our Montessori classroom encourages independence, exploration, and discovery in a stimulating environment. Carefully designed, it offers hands-on materials and child-friendly furniture, fostering curiosity, concentration, and autonomy. Guided by dedicated teachers, each child follows an individualized learning path, gaining confidence, refining skills, and cultivating a lifelong love of learning.
Our surroundings
Located in Geneva’s serene surroundings, our school offers an ideal setting for learning and exploration. With a park, playground, forest, and nearby river, children connect with nature, experience the seasons, and develop a sense of wonder.
Key Learning Areas
The Montessori approach encourages children to explore their environment with joy, curiosity, and confidence. Interconnected learning spaces allow for free movement, fostering deep engagement and the natural development of skills. This holistic design nurtures independence, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our story
Kimiyo discovered the Montessori method while searching for the best early education for her daughter. She wanted a learning environment that fosters independence, self-confidence, and a lifelong love of discovery—a framework that values not only academic skills but also creativity, emotional intelligence, and a deep connection to the world.
Montessori's child-centered philosophy resonated deeply with her, emphasizing curiosity, self-discipline, and a true sense of purpose. Inspired by the transformative impact of this approach, Kimiyo became passionate about sharing this method with other families, creating a space where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
After enrolling her daughter in a Montessori school and witnessing the positive effects of this approach, Kimiyo trained as a Montessori teacher. With over ten years of experience supporting children's development, she founded Little Birds, where she and her team are dedicated to fostering joyful and independent learning in a carefully prepared environment.
Our strengths
Beyond the core principles of the Montessori method, our program nurtures the whole child—academically, emotionally, socially, and creatively. We offer activities such as music, arts and crafts, and outdoor exploration, fostering creativity, teamwork, and self-expression. This holistic approach helps children develop self-confidence and resilience.
Our mission
Our mission is to offer a warm, safe and stimulating environment where each child can develop their full potential, respecting their individual pace, natural curiosity and need for autonomy.
Our fundamental principles
- Respect for the child : We recognize each child as a unique individual, with their own talents, interests and needs.
- Pedagogy of autonomy : Encouraging children to choose their activities, solve their own problems and become responsible for their learning.
- A prepared environment: Provide an orderly, aesthetically pleasing space adapted to the size of children, with Montessori materials designed to encourage exploration and learning.
- Experiential learning : Promoting "doing" rather than simply "listening", by actively engaging the hands, senses and mind.
- Cooperation and community : Promoting mutual support, mutual respect and collaboration between children and adults.
Extracurricular activities
We offer flexibility to personalize your child's learning path. Complementing the Montessori method, these approaches encourage exploration through music, art, outdoor discovery, and movement, helping children develop new skills and broaden their horizons and build resilience.
English Immersion
Our "Wonderful Wednesdays" program offers children a creative and playful way to learn English through singing, movement, games, storytelling, arts and crafts, cooking, and outdoor exploration. Inspired by the Montessori approach, these activities promote problem-solving, communication, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.
After-school care
Every weekday except Wednesday, our after-school program from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. offers children the opportunity to relax and recharge. They enjoy a healthy snack before participating in outdoor games, playful activities, story time, creative workshops, and free time to read and relax.
